A Resolution for the New Decade

What would your life be like in ten years if you committed yourself this decade to accepting your experience?

How would your life change if you practiced saying Yes to whatever thoughts and feelings arise? (You can say Yes to a thought without acting on its content.)

What if you gave up being the dictator of your mind—approving this thought, rejecting that emotion—and became more of an observer?

And what if, if this all sounds too difficult, you committed yourself to figuring out how to do this?

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years,” said Bill Gates.

We underestimate how much we can get done with steady effort and clear intention.

How do you want your life to look in ten years, as you greet yourself on New Year’s Eve, 2029?

What do you need to do to get there?

What would it take?

Would it be worth it?

I’ve asked myself these questions throughout the day, and feel clearer on my purpose as I enter this new decade. I offer them to you in the hope that you too can get where you want to go.

Here’s to a happy new year, and a new decade on this incredible planet.
